Hi

Do you have any recomendations for displaying banner advertising or upsells to a user per learning event? We would like to display services that relate to the module they are watching. Suggestions include:

  1. Redirecting a user to a Text / HTML on completion.
  2. Incorporating a banner strip on the pop-up that can be used in conjunction with a banner advertising module.
  3. Setting a querystring, session or cookie per learning event which can trigger the banner on the parent window.
I'm sure they are plenty of other options. Do you have any recomendations?

Thanks
Adam

Hi Adam,

There is very little we can do in terms of extracting content or text from a flash Learning Event. The most reliable source would be the keyword field in the LE Details that you would populate.

We could append the keywords in one of the URL that are created in the LE presentation process. Smoke House Banner Ad manager will present ads based on query string parameters:
http://www.snowcovered.com/Snowcovered2/Default.aspx?tabid=242&PackageID=14003

Options:
1 - The easiest URL for us to manage would be one used for opening the popup. Banner ads would require editing the LE popup window HTML template.
2 - We have also thought about providing the ability of a feedback form that pops up after the main LE popup closes. Banner ads would require editing the Feedback popup window HTML template.
3 - We have also thought about providing a post LE completion event handler that would allow for you to redirect.

I don't think trying to postback the entire page would be a good option. We only reload the TreeGrid using Ajax currently.

Would either of the 3 options above work for you? What would be your preference?

Thanks,
Chris
